Support through sport
Adullam’s Ofsted registered team in the High Peak that provides supported accommodation services for 16/17-year-old young people has teamed up with two sports clubs to plan a fund-raising golf day.
Some of the young people have had traumatic and difficult starts to their lives, through no fault of their own. Adullam helps them to move into education, training, employment, and ultimately on to independent housing. It aims to give them the best chances possible of a happy and successful life and as part of this the golf day will raise funds to pay for day trips, activities, and sports equipment.
A share of the money raised will go to Buxton Cricket Club and New Mills Cricket Club. They will use it to help any young person buy equipment who cannot afford it themselves. It will open the sport up to more young people.
Companies and organisations are being asked to sponsor the event and/or to enter a team (or several teams). There are a range of options, from sponsoring a hole for £50 to entering a team with sponsorship at £250. The event takes place on August 14 at New Mills Golf Club.
Adullam Deputy Service Manager and event organiser Michael Birchenall said: “We really hope people will support this event. Teams can be from companies or groups of friends; everyone is very welcome.
“It will be a fun day with lots of prizes up for grabs. Everyone will have a good time and be helping others while they do so.”
