Double Sheffield celebration

April has been a double celebration month for Adullam’s Sheffield Foundations service, with it reaching its 10th anniversary and being shortlisted for the Team of the Year title at the national Housing Heroes awards.

Foundations provides support for people throughout the city whose poor mental health makes it difficult for them to gain and/or maintain tenancies.

The 14-strong team uses trauma-informed practices and the mental health training they have had to create bespoke support plans for each client.

The service was originally based at Knowle House on Norfolk Park Road, close to the Sheffield Hallam University city campus, but moved to accommodation within the Burton Street Foundation in the Hillsborough area of the city in April 2022.

The service has developed significantly over its lifetime with the past year seeing significant beneficial changes. A wider range and number of learning and wellbeing sessions have been provided,  a focused peer-led neurodiversity group has been established, and partnership working has been strengthened.

Since April 1, 2025, there have been 75 people join the service and in total the team is supporting more than 100 people. In the same time period, 99 people departed the service. Of these, more than half had positive move-ons.

The awards news came through the day after the service held an anniversary celebration. Staff and clients gathered with poster colouring and craft activity. A game of word bingo took place, and everyone was made to think by a quiz. Pins, stress balls and whistles were given as gifts.

With such impressive results it is no surprise the team has been shortlisted in the Housing Heroes awards. The ceremony is on June 22, and we hope there will be even more for a Sheffield celebration!
