Gifts make a difference
Packed Christmas gift bags will be going to young residents and service-users at Adullam Homes’ Derbyshire Step-Up projects in Chesterfield and High Peak thanks to the hard work of two Chesterfield residents and the generosity of their contacts.
Josh Brocklehurst has helped Adullam directly for the past four years by organising a gift appeal via his housing estate’s WhatsApp group.
Before this, he donated to the Shoebox Appeal, which before it ended was run by the sister of Jo Hope.
A replacement appeal is now run by Jo from her spare room, with all the donations, including those from Josh, going to young people supported by Adullam in Derbyshire.
Jo and her work colleagues at Bolsover Cruise Club donate generously. She also calls on friends and family via Facebook.
An amazing 80 gift bags have been delivered to Adullam Team Leader Lindsey Bamford by Jo and Josh and are being distributed to Adullam projects including Devonshire House in Chesterfield and Salisbury House in Buxton.
Commenting on the generosity of those involved, Lindsey said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Jo, Josh and everyone who helped make this possible. Without this appeal many of the young people with us would not have any Christmas gifts at all. It makes a huge difference.”
Step Up is commissioned by Derbyshire County Council and delivered by a consortium involving Adullam Homes Housing Association and Framework Housing Association. Adullam delivers the service in the north of the county.
