Merseyside Poverty & Homeless Week
From 31st January 2009 - 8th February2009
Merseyside Services worked hard to promote and raise money for Poverty and Homeless Week.
Residents Involvement - Floating Support Team

Following on from the success of our Residents Involvement Day in November 2008, we held another on 5th February 2009 in the YMCA in Liverpool in aid of Poverty and Homeless week.
Again thanks to commitment and attendance from our residents, this day was a great success! Residents from the YMCA and Adullam Floating Support team shared their experiences with us of times when they were homeless and the difficulties they faced.
There was a presentation from the North Liverpool Citizens Advice Bureau regarding debt issues and welfare rights and how to access advice from their service. As well as a lot of information leaflets for residents and staff to take away with them.
There was also a talk from a representative from the Basement Project who provide a drop in service to Homeless people in Merseyside. He also shared his real life experiences of living on the streets.
Staff Sponsored Run around Sefton Park

A number of staff from Merseyside services took part in a sponsored run to raise money for a local homeless charity. Donna Owoo, floating support team manager took responsibility for teaching people how to breathe and stretches to reduce risk of injury. Hodo Deria ran around twice and apparently she barely had a hair out of place! Funds have not yet been calculated but when they have we will let you know.
Staff Sponsored Waking Night at All Saints Church

Four staff from the Floating Support Team and Janet Taylor the Area Manager, spent a night in the All Saints church on Broadgreen Road. Arthur the vicar made us all very welcome and as comfortable as possible. We spent the night playing games and getting to know each other a little better, eating healthy munchies, wearing face masks and watching Hairspray on DVD. We raised around £350.
