Powering Up Our Residents

Adullam has a national forum called the Services Committee which consists of Residents representing each of Adullam's operational areas. It is part of Adullam's governance structure. Ideally there are 2 Residents per Area but we welcome any Residents who show enthusiasm and commitment. The Committee meets about 6 times per year. It is responsible for producing a Strategy and ensuring the achievement of various objectives through a Plan. It also manages a national budget for Involvement and reports to Adullam's Board of Management. The Committee is supported and resourced by Adullam Board, senior management and staff teams.

If the Committee's national objectives are to be reached much of the actions will be taken by smaller groups of Representatives working with Adullam staff often at Area and local levels. Currently the Committee is working on producing national and local surveys; putting together a training programme for Representatives; reviewing the Resident and Service User Hand Books; producing Newsletters; and looking at how Residents can be involved in recruiting staff.

Representatives are expected to sign up to a Representative Role which the Committee has agreed. Representatives are expected to commit some of their time to reading meeting notes and reports, attending and contributing to meetings, and assistlng with key tasks and actions to achieve set goals. They are also expected to act and behave to agreed standards. Representatives will be given lots of experience, knowledge and training to allow them to fulfil the role. They need to be supported by Adullam managers and staff. The experience they get can be used to support applications for education, training and employment and Adullam will provide references accordingly.

The Representative Role Description and Terms of Reference for the Services Committee are available on Grapevine.
